Eclipse over the Antarctic The sun, the moon and two photographers lined up in Antarctic during an unusual full solar eclipse. In spite of all difficulties, the group of enthusiasts eclipse-hunters dared to commit a trip to the “bottom” of the world in order to see a surrealistic picture of temporary disappearance of the sun behind the moon. One of their trophies is this picture – a digital montage from four separate images, showing how a human eye, capable to adapting, saw the eclipse. The picture was obtained, when the moon and the sun reached the greatest height over the Antarctic mountain range. In the darkness, which suddenly surrounded the moon, one could see a wonderful solar crown. The other photographer, checking his video-camera, was occasionally pictured in one of the photos. To the left one can see a bag with equipment and a folding armchair. Author: Fred Bruenjes
